Privacy Policy

This is a static site with no accounts, no forms and no newsletter, so there is very little to disclose. What there is, is set out here plainly.

The short version

This site does not ask you for personal information, does not have accounts, does not run a newsletter and does not take bookings or payments. There is no form on it to fill in. If you never email us, we hold nothing about you beyond what any web server records.

What the server records

Like almost every website, the server hosting this site keeps standard access logs. These typically include the IP address making the request, the time, the page requested, and the browser and operating system reported by your device. They are generated automatically by the hosting infrastructure and used for security and to keep the site working.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. It is a static site with no login, no cart and no personalisation.

The exception is what happens when you follow a link to a booking platform. Those platforms — Viator and GetYourGuide — set their own cookies to attribute the referral, and their privacy policies govern that entirely. If you would rather not be tracked by them, do not follow the links, or use your browser's privacy controls.

Embedded content

Some pages embed a Google Maps frame to show where a glacier or meeting point is, and the site loads fonts from Google's font service. Loading either means your browser contacts Google's servers, which can log the request. Nothing about you is sent deliberately by this site, but the connection is a fact worth knowing.

If you email us

If you send an email to the address on the contact page, we hold that message and your address for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of any correction made. It is not added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list, and it is not passed on to anyone.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Given that this site collects almost nothing, the answer is usually short. Requests can be sent to the address on the contact page.

Changes to this policy

If analytics or any other third-party tool is added to this site in future, this page will be updated before that happens rather than afterwards. The date in the byline at the top shows when this page was last reviewed.
